ATLAS® - Member of Leather Working Group

ATLAS® has expanded its cooperation portfolio in relation to the sourcing of raw materials by becoming a member of the Leather Working Group (LWG). Our membership commenced at the start of 2016 and from now on confirms the processing of environmentally friendly leather hides at ATLAS® production facilities.

Since its establishment in 2005 different brands, manufacturers and leather producers have come together as a group in order to develop specific guidelines for the environmentally friendly production and processing of leather.

We obtain our leather from tanneries that have successfully completed a LWG audit and have therefore met the standards set out in the audit protocol.

LWG certification enables a transparent and permanent validation of the environmental performance of our leather suppliers and therefore makes an active contribution to protecting the environment.

“Protecting the environment is of great importance to ATLAS®, which means we are more than happy to be allowed be involved in this partnership,” said Andreas Prentki, COO of ATLAS Brazil.

This means that in addition to our functional feed, which for a long time has met the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, the source and processing of our leather materials has been audited and evaluated by an independent committee.

At ATLAS® only South American cowhides are used and these must meet the highest quality standards. We monitor the quality of our leather daily through an ongoing quality assurance process that already commences with our supplier companies.
