Foot care - for a safe and healthy appearance

Tips on how to care for your feet effectively

Our feet carry us day after day - at work, in everyday life and on all journeys in between. They perform hard labour, often under high stress and in demanding environments. Nevertheless, they usually only receive attention when they hurt or problems arise. Regular, targeted foot care makes a decisive contribution to maintaining good health - not just of the feet, but of the entire musculoskeletal system.

Particularly in the working environment, where standing for long periods, heavy shoes and hard floors are part of everyday life, it is important to pay special attention to the foundations of the body. After all, healthy feet ensure a stable posture, greater well-being and easier, pain-free walking.

Why regular foot care is essential

Conscious and well-executed foot care prevents typical problems such as calluses, cracks and corns. It also protects against fungal infections and improves blood circulation in the skin and connective tissue. If you look after your feet regularly, you not only improve the appearance of your skin, but also noticeably increase your own well-being - especially during physically demanding activities.

How to care for your feet sustainably and effectively

Start with daily cleansing. Wash your feet with lukewarm water and a mild, pH-neutral soap. It is important to dry the skin thoroughly afterwards - especially the spaces between the toes, as moisture can easily lead to skin irritation or fungal infections.

Calluses should be removed regularly but gently - ideally after a shower or a short foot bath when the skin is softer. Use a fine foot file or pumice stone to do this, but avoid aggressive planes or blades as these can damage the skin.

Afterwards, we recommend applying a special foot care cream, for example with urea or deer tallow. These ingredients support skin regeneration, moisturise dry areas and help to prevent cracks - especially on the heels.

Toenails also deserve attention: cut them straight and not too short to prevent ingrown nails. If necessary, the nail edges should be slightly smoothed but not rounded off to maintain stability.

The choice of socks and footwear also plays a key role in foot health. Fresh, breathable socks made from natural or functional materials every day help to minimise perspiration and friction. A well-fitting, high-quality shoe is just as important. Shoes that are too tight or poorly ventilated can not only cause blisters and pressure points, but also favour malpositions in the long term.

When should you be particularly careful?

People with chronic illnesses such as diabetes mellitus or circulatory disorders should check their feet regularly - for minor injuries, discolouration, calluses or pressure points. In such cases, it is advisable to seek professional care from a podiatrist. Medical advice should also be sought at an early stage for persistent skin problems or complaints.

Give your feet a rest

In addition to daily care, it helps to allow your feet to relax from time to time. Walking barefoot on soft ground, a warm footbath with sea salt or essential oils such as lavender or sage as well as gentle massages stimulate blood circulation, relax the muscles and promote a general feeling of well-being.

Especially after a long day in closed safety shoes, it makes sense to consciously relieve your feet - through air, care and rest. After all, regeneration is just as important as protection.

Healthy feet are not a matter of course - but they are the basis for every step we take in life. If you look after your feet regularly, you are investing in mobility, well-being and physical health. Especially in everyday working life, where shoes are worn for many hours a day, the combination of appropriate foot care and high-quality footwear is crucial.

Small care - big effect: foot care doesn't have to be expensive, but it does have an effect - preventative, beneficial and health-promoting. If you treat your feet well, you can go through life lighter, healthier and more relaxed.

Tip for shoe customers: Even the best foot care is useless if your shoes pinch! Pay attention to a good fit, quality and the right material, both for shoes and insoles.
