SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS

For our more than 450 different models, we use a wide range of materials that are either already sustainably designed or that we are currently replacing with more sustainable solutions.

One of the most frequently used materials is mesh, which can be used for both the outer material and the inner lining. We only use materials that are OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100-certified.

We are particularly proud of a milestone that we achieved in 2023: We have made sustainability tangible in our product portfolio for the first time with our first holistically sustainable recycled safety shoe. The upper material of the RUNNER 75 is made from 92% recycled PET bottles. The material is called REPREVE® polyester and is already used by numerous well-known brands. To produce REPREVE® polyester, collected plastic bottles and post-industrial waste are shredded, ground, washed and processed into high-quality flakes. These flakes are melted into liquid polymer and extruded through tiny openings in a spinneret, creating filaments that form the REPREVE® fibre. The Unifi company spins the fibre into yarn, from which a fabric is woven - the REPREVE® polyester that we use for the upper of our Recycling Safety Shoe.
